The custom "Blue Baby" guitar was designed and handcrafted by master luthier, Scott Tilley at the world renowned Regenberg Music, circa 1992. This guitar was the collaboration between Spencer Frothingham's crazy ideals of the dream guitar and Scott Tilley's technical expertise to make it happen. When designing the guitar, Spencer had 3 basic requirements that had to be fulfilled. One, it had to sound good. Two, it had to look good. Three, it had to taste good. I've never really quite understood that third requirement, but who am I to question the ways of "the Froth"? This guitar was his main guitar for most of the nineties. In fact, it was his only guitar since he had to pawn all of his other ones for food. This was his only guitar that pawn shops were really NOT interested in. It seems that the occasional nibble REALLY decreases the resell value of a guitar. The Blue Baby was never used for a professional session, However, if Spencer ever had any money to actually do a professional session he would have probably rented a Les Paul anyways. The "Blue Baby" has been the main touring guitar for Spencer Frothingham since the early 90's, and unless the Poor Rich Kids start making some money, don't expect that to change anytime soon.
